Submission Guidelines

The Christian Martial Artist includes articles about all martial arts styles and techniques. Before anything else, we are Christians serving Christ, and we ask that all submitted material conform to our Tenents.

Before sending a complete article to The Christian Martial Artist, we recommend you submit a query letter. The query should describe your proposed article and specific if it will include photos. Please be as specific as possible in your article description.

Please do not submit editorial material that has been published or submitted to other publications. The author must tell us if the material was or will be submitted somewhere else. By submitting material, the author agrees that The Christian Martial Artist has the rights to publish it.

Below are some more specific guidelines for different story ideas. Please follow the guidelines above first.

News
If you have news about tournaments, events or seminars, send us an article of 250 words or less with any accompanying photos for publication on our website.

Editorials
Is there a passage in scripture that you think really applies well to martial arts? Or is there an issue we as Christian martial artist need to look out for. Let us know your thoughts in around 500 words and your opinion could get published.

Christian Schools or Organizations
Do you know about a martial arts ministry that we do not? Or do you teach a Christian martial arts school and want to include it in our directory? Each issue we feature a Christian school or organization, which we also include in our online directory. Stories run around 400 words at most and should include a number of photos of the school in action.

The Word
Are you a pastor or a youth minister? Each issue we have a recurring section called ‘the Word’ where we ask ministers or pastors to write a brief article about a passage or verse from the Bible as it relates to martial artists. Basically it is a short sermon for Christian martial artists. These articles usually run around 500 words. Please include what church or ministry you preach for so that we can tell our readers about it.

Letters to the Editor
Have a great read in the latest issue? Maybe you think we missed the mark on a story? Let us know! Send us your ideas and remarks in 300 words or less and your letter could be in the next issue.

Feature Articles
Feature articles can range from 750 to 2,000 words in length, and should include several photos. Feature articles should focus on specific topics and consult with at least three qualified sources.

Training Tips
Are you an instructor of judo, arnis, or another style? Do you want to show everyone how to improve their flexibility or perform the perfect hook kick? We are interested in including brief stories that teach our readers new skills for their martial arts repertoire. These stories should be around 250 words which address what is being taught, what are common mistakes made, and what the technique is for. Please also include photos or video that walks the readers through the technique step-by-step.

Testimonials
Do you have an inspirational story about Christian martial arts? Send us your story and we may publish it on our website. Testimonials should be around 500 words and should include some photos.

Master Profiles
Is your school’s master instructor a martial artist who uses his skills to serve Christ? We include master profiles each issue that run from 800 to 1200 words. Please include several photos of the person being profiled.
